What makes us special #1 The Environment
1. The Environment - St. Augustine Eco Tour's Headquarters are located in the heart of an amazing estuary and surrounded by the 73,352 acre GTMNERR Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve). This location offers countless trip destinations and wildlife viewing begins just feet away from the dock. The estuarine environment specific to southeastern North America is one of the most fertile on the planet. It is the productivity of this eco system that attracts amazing dolphin, bird, and sea turtle populations. Permanent, transient, & seasonal bird species are too numerous to mention. We have spotted and reported several rare bird sightings including; Long Tailed Ducks, Brown Boobies, & Common Eiders. The estuary harbors thousands of acres of salt marshes, millions of oysters, & unique hammock habitats. Explore with us in the calm rivers & creeks within the intracoastal waterway.
What makes us special #2 The Guides
2. Great Guides - Most think the Guides come first on this list but we wouldn't be here without # 1. All guides for St. Augustine Eco Tours begin with experience and education that makes them certified kayak instructors or US Coast Guard Licensed Boat Captains. Secondly, all current guides are Interpretive Naturalists. They are as good with people as with animals and will customize the trip to the interests of the group. Our guides don't just tell you what you're seeing but WHY it's here! The collision of natural and historical elements make experiences with St. Augustine Eco Tours one of a kind and our guides will fill you in on both as you explore the elements of the estuary.
What makes us special #3 The Equipment
3. Equipment - St. Augustine Eco Tours utilizes kayaks & research/ rescue style boats to introduce guests to a variety of distinct habitats surrounding St. Augustine. We have chosen all of our equipment based on safety and responsible interaction. Our boats and kayaks are the safest in the industry, professional quality, and meticulously maintained. Boats are ultra fuel efficient and outfitted with underwater microphones, binoculars, and marine specimen collectors. Our kayaks are the most stable on the market and are replaced annually. All kayaks feature rudders for steering control, this makes the experience much better for beginners & experienced paddlers. Our research boats, as well as the kayaks, allow us to reach responsibly in to the shallows of the salt marshes while offering a great viewing platform for eye to eye encounters. Check out our detailed boat or kayak page for more info on our floating crafts.
What makes us special #4 The Mission
4. Purpose & Goal - St. Augustine Eco Tours is here to make a difference in the local community and beyond. We are dedicated to the protection and conservation of the environment. Our goal is to show everyone just how amazing this place is so that we can all work to keep it that way! By showing you the wildlife, we are giving them a voice.
